Last night Lady Gaga tweeted out the image of her September Vogue cover (her second timeappearing on the magazine) to 28 million followers along with the message:
SHH DONT TELL TWITTER/ SEPT ISSUE OF VOGUE MAGAZINE/ Sorry Anna but the underground kids deserve it. bisous!
A mere 10 hours later, it already has nearly 10K likes on Gaga’s own social media site, Little Monsters. Soon after the picture was posted, Vogue either realized the unstoppable power Gaga wields online, or (more likely) this was a planned “leak,” but in any case, they now have photos of the inside story up on their own website, along with a sneak peek into the inside story penned by Jonathan Van Meter.
As for the cover image itself, lensed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and styled by Grace Coddington, we’re somewhat torn — we adore the silhouette and hue of the Marc Jacobs gown the pop star is wearing, but we do wish the background had the same kind of electricity as Gaga’s hair. One thing is for sure though: between the Stephen Jones monster flopper the singer sports inside the issue and Gwen Stefani‘s giant pink flower on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, hats and pink are the stories this season.
And no matter what, we’re definitely going to be hightailing it to our local newsstand August 14th, lest the rabid fans snap up every copy before we can get our hands on it. And without further ado, behold the Mother Monster in all her fuchsia-clad glory:
